Temple Status Report #27
Work on the new temple is almost complete. Most of the granite floor has been installed. The septic system has been hooked up. The fire sprinkler reserve tank is in place, but the final water hook-ups need to be done. The phone lines have been installed. A number of items need to be tested and approved, then we will be able to get our temporary occupancy permit. All work should be completed by the end of April.
In March we suspended activities in Hyde Park and began the process of moving to the new temple. We will resume our programs when the new temple is ready.
The extension of I-355 has opened and there is now an exit at 143rd Street just a mile or so from the temple.
The address of the new temple is 15516 W. 147th Street, Homer Glen, IL 60491.
The site is at the end of Lemont Road (State Street) where it intersects with 147th Street, just 4 miles south of the Hindu Temple of Greater Chicago.
A model of the Sri Ramakrishna Universal Temple is on display in the lobby of the Vivekananda Vedanta Society in Chicago.
